In the Mies van der Rohe Barcelona Pavilion there is a sculpture in courtyard. This sculpture is called “Morning” - a female figure with her arms raised, shielding her face from the sun. A marble craftsman from the island of Romblon, the Philippines’ marble quarries, was asked to recreate her arms. Each screen shows an eleven-minute video of the making of each arm, interspersed with shots of the island’s surrounding vegetation.
